Weekend Reading 06.06
A new This Bookish Life subscription option, a bookish Nashville home tour, some book-to-TV news, and more links for your weekend.

Hi friends. Thanks so much for your response to last week’s newsletter. I’m excited to be on this bookish journey with you, and today I have just one more announcement to share in that regard.
For those who want more of This Bookish Life, a paid subscription option is now available in addition to a free one. Here’s how it works…
Free subscribers to This Bookish Life will receive the Weekend Reading posts like this one, which include a note from me and links to things I hope you’ll find interesting or inspiring. These are the Friday posts I’ve been writing forever, and many of you have told me you look forward to them (I love writing them too!). These will always be free.
Paid subscribers will receive all the Weekend Reading posts plus additional subscriber-only posts once a week on Tuesdays. These Tuesday posts will cover the same kinds of things we talk about on Fridays, but we’ll be able to dive in a little deeper and have fun with some different formats, too. Paid subscribers will also have full access to the archive.
The cost of the paid subscription is $5/month, or you can get two months free by paying annually. You can subscribe to either version or upgrade your free subscription to paid here. I hope you’ll feel free to pick whichever subscription feels right to you – I’m grateful to everyone who reads here!
I know you may have questions, so please don’t hesitate to reply to this email or leave a comment. I always love hearing from you.
And now…here’s what I saved to share with you this week…
Homeworthy visited Keith Meacham for a video tour of her Nashville home. This tour is a real treat – the entire house is so warm and interesting, just like Keith. Don’t miss her husband Jon Meacham’s carriage house office at about the 25:44 mark.
My Town: Anna Maria Island, FL. A local shares her favorite places on the island, along with the story of rebuilding after two hurricanes last year. “Every building had a dumpster in front of it,” (she) recalls. “Every swimming pool was filled with sand.”
This was fun: last weekend’s visit to Afterword Tavern and Shelves in KC.
Two pieces of book-to-TV news:
Candice Millard’s Destiny of the Republic, about the assassination of James Garfield, is being made into a series for Netflix, and the cast is something – Matthew Macfadyen, Nick Offerman, and Bradley Whitford for starters. You can read all about it here.
Last week, Jenna Bush Hager held her first Read With Jenna Book Festival, which looked like a lot of fun. During Jenna’s interview with Elin Hilderbrand at the festival, they revealed that they are working together on something for the screen, but said they could say no more. Interesting! You can hear their whole conversation here.
Speaking of Elin, her Books Beach & Beyond podcast with Tim Ehrenberg is back for season 3. This is the podcast, bookish or otherwise, I look forward to the most – the author lineup is incredible. If you’re new to it, you can scroll through the first two seasons to see what I mean.
Finally, This Bookish Life now has its own online bookshop! I’ve stocked it full of books I’ve read and can recommend, along with my to-be-read (TBR) list. You’ll find books grouped by genre, as well as categories for some favorite repeat authors. I’m always adding to it, so check back often.
I hope you have a great weekend. Thanks so much for being a reader.
Julie
