Weekend Reading 06.05
Where in the world are you? Plus, links for your weekend.
Almost two years ago I asked you guys to let me know where you live and it was so fun and interesting to read all the answers.
So, let’s do it again!
I’d love for you to leave a comment below and tell me where home is for you. (And if you’re up for it, what’s something interesting or that you love about where you live?)
I’ll go first!
I live in Overland Park, which is a suburb in the Kansas City metro. Kansas City straddles two states, Kansas and Missouri. We have a road that runs through the middle of the city called State Line Road. I’m on the Kansas side.
Kansas City is a really pretty city. First time visitors here are often surprised by that.
And a thing I especially appreciate is how green KC is, especially at this time of year.
How about you? Are you in KC too, or somewhere else? I’d love to know (even if you answered last time).
Here are a few things I saved to share with you this week:
I knew the minute I saw the first picture of this Architectural Digest article that the cottage would be in Carmel. “‘Hansel’ eventually became the first of 18 Hugh Comstock–designed cottages in Carmel (each cottage is known by its name rather than a street address). Lucky number five is called ‘Our House,’ a 1928 pink-and-green home tucked behind a charming grape stake fence and blooming rose garden.”
Chicago on the move. “Through his shots of people in transit, photographer Graham Chapman captures the lifeblood of the city.”
The one thing you should be doing for your houseplants. “Plants are more forgiving in watering and fertilizing and everything else once you get their light right.”
If you have a Trader Joe’s near you, I was in yesterday and they were giving out samples of their seasonal key lime pie. I love that it’s on the small side (just 4 servings) and the only prep is to defrost for an hour or two in the fridge. So easy and low-key for summer.
This week’s post for paid subscribers is about a way of looking at home as it relates to color palette. There’s also a favorite author’s beach cottage home tour and a list of books that my book club is reading this year.
Thanks so much for being a reader. Don’t forget to leave a comment and tell us where you’re reading from!
